Villa swoop for Shorey

Nicky ShoreyAston Villa have confirmed the signing of left-back Nicky Shorey from Reading on a three-year deal with Middlesbrough defender Luke Young expected to join him imminently.

Shorey, 27, is Villa's fourth summer signing and joins former Royals team-mate Steve Sidwell and goalkeepers Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan.

Fulham seal Johnson deal

Andy JohnsonAndrew Johnson has completed his transfer from Everton to Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

Johnson had been linked with a move to Craven Cottage for much of the summer, but the deal appeared to hit problems earlier this week, only for the clubs to come to an agreement on a fee, with 27-year-old Johnson signing a four-year contract.

The 33-year-old was pulled out of this weekend's FA Community Shield clash between Manchester United and Portsmouth following allegations he owes £60,000 as a result of a failed venture. Peter Walton will officiate at Wembley instead.

Depor accept Newcastle's Coloccini bid

Fabricio ColocciniDeportivo La Coruna have accepted a bid from Newcastle for Argentina defender Fabricio Coloccini.

A statement on Depor's official website, www.canaldeportivo.com, confirmed the two clubs reached a verbal agreement last week and that has now been followed up with a formal written offer. Depor claim the fee could rise to 13 million euros.
